Can't wait to see this. As of right now? It's the only movie that I am willing to venture to the theater for. Here's a scene from the movie that was posted a day ago. Love seeing Ceaser putting together a Statue of Liberty model.

For a film that is essentially a remake of CONQUEST OF THE PLANET OF THE APES I'll admit that this one has my interest. From what I've seen so far it appears as if they've found an interesting way of retelling the tale of how the apes came to power that's fresh and original....something you don't see very often in Hollywood anymore. Of course, I thought the same thing about Tim Burton's remake of PLANET OF THE APES and we all know how that turned out.

I enjoyed Tim's take, but it totally falls on it's face by the end. The make-up, setting...etc were great. This one like you said seems to take it in a whole new direction. I like that they're actually using real looking monkey's this time or apes. I also like that they are taking it seriously!!! As much as I enjoy all of the movies that came out, they all had that cheesy atmosphere to them. Even Tim's version. This one looks like they are going full bore drama. Which is exactly what I have been waiting for.

Yeah, I am really pumped for this. I am huge fan of the series, and even like Burton's version to an extent. Will definitely try to hit this at the theater.

I actually can not wait for this. August the 5th can't come soon enough. Add to the fact John Lithgow is in it!

Yeah, I'm going to make a big effort to see this. It's tough when you have a kid. Hopefully it's not too violent for him.

This movie will prove that we are cousins of the apes. People need to realize this. We didn't come FROM the monkeys, but we are one of the gene splits from an ancestor 6 million yrs ago.......the split went one way to what is now humans, and one way which was monkey/ape/gorilla. This is a fact you God loving, bible carrying, beach prayin' psycho nutjobs. THE BIBLE HAS BEEN LYING TO US!!!!!!!!! Believe.

Just watched this today. Really good, not as great as everyone is making it out to be but very entertaining.
Here's the formula for this movie....
Conquest of the Planet of the Apes + Deep Blue Sea + Awakenings + Project X + 28 Days Later + Shawshank Redemption (Or any other prison escape movie) = Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
Now, if you didn't see any of the above mentioned movies...then yes. I can see this movie being great, but if you have? It might take away some of the enjoyment. Even with all that it was executed very well. I still give it a 8/10.

Even with all that it was executed very well. I still give it a 8/10. I watched this last night. I found it to be very engaging and entertaining, certainly a better entry than Tim Burton's Apes remake. The story was well structured, the characters well written, and the CGI Apes were, for the most part, convincing. I liked the role reversal that occurred as the film progressed, with your sympathies turning away from the human characters and more towards Caesar and the other persecuted apes. I also have to mention that I enjoyed the subtle nods towards the other films sprinkled throughout the story. In conclusion, for those who've never seen a PLANET OF THE APES film this is a good entry point into the series, and for fans of the original it is a satisfying reimagining of a classic Apes film.
