To find the image you need go to the Avatar thread and follow those first steps before trying this, but if you feel comfortable enough? Then give it a shot!
This one is a little tricky because it does not give you the option to add image tags.
The best thing to do is to reply to any thread, click the image button.
Then copy it. After that go to your profile and click modify profile...
Scroll down till you see this...
Paste the image tag in there first, then find a link to a picture that you want to use. This is very important here. If the image is huge? Find a smaller one or re-size it because it will slow down the board if it's too big because it uses up bandwidth. If you cannot find the right size? Send it my way and I will fix it. The other thing? Try to keep them rectangular. Square is fine, but it will be smaller compared to a rectangular image. Just look at my sig to compare.
